Piano music for Avenue Q and its lyrics are written by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx. The musical is comprised of two acts. There are 14 songs in the first act and 11 songs in the second. It was decided to make Avenue Q, a TV series; hence a song, “How Much Do the people in Your Neighborhood Make?” that was written for Avenue Q a T.V series was later dropped when they decided to make it a stage production. Another song "Tear It Up and Throw It Away”, which was the second song, has been abandoned from the musical.
